Worship

Every church in our Benefice has a service every Sunday of the month, except for the fifth Sunday when we join together for worship in one of our churches at 10am. This means that each community has weekly opportunity to be a prayerful and welcoming presence as well as enjoying the mutual support, sharing and celebration of coming together as a wider group.

The pattern of worship is a mix of fresh and creative as well as familiar and traditional. We have All Age Worship and Family worship to be especially engaging and user-friendly across the generations, although of course children and young people are welcome to any service and we always work hard to help everyone engage. We use Common Worship, Book of Common Prayer and liturgies drawn from Celtic and eclectic resources to give a rich variety of styles. Some services are clergy led, some by worship teams, and some shared leadership by both clergy and congregation.

Our pattern of worship also reflects the seasons and church calendar, when changes are made to our usual pattern to be as open and welcoming as possible. We welcome our largest congregations at festivals like Mothering Sunday, Easter, Harvest, Remembrance and Christmas and hope that all our villages feel a sense of belonging and ownership of their church buildings, whether or not they are regular congregation.
