Welcome to Cath's Corner
A section of benefice news where Cath gets to share her thoughts with you on God, faith, life, pretty much anything.
Don't forget, you can comment against any of the articles on the blog and Cath would love to hear your thoughts.
I’m quite excited – there’ s so much coming up…..
I wanted to draw your attention to 17th November
– when Simon Lloyd, the Diocesan Secretary, is coming to preach at our United Service at Pillerton – 10.30am. I hope that will be a joyous and exciting occasion.
Then the following week Bishop John is coming on Tuesday to run a day for us on Healing ministry at Newbold village Hall 9.30- 3.00. If you would like to come, please let Colette know (07583434468) so that we can provide lunch.
Following that, on Sunday 24th, bishop John will return to be with us for a service of healing at 10.30 in Ettington Church…. You don’t have to be ill to need healing in your life. We all have areas of struggle and tension and pain, and here is an opportunity to bring it all to God and ask his help.
EVERYONE is welcome.
Please invite those who you think might like to come…..we’re all crumbling human beings from time to time!

Our lovely friend, Melissa, has had to return from her charity rally to Mongolia, because she is very poorly indeed.
So many of us feel helpless and unable to do anything – but we can pray for her and her family.
Nikki Moon, a member of our congregation, begins her training for ordination next week – she too needs the support of our prayers.
I will be in Ettington church from 6.30pm on Thursday 12th September when we’ll have a small service of prayer for Melissa and blessing for Nikki.
Please join me if you can – all are welcome!
We so often forget about the Spirit, don’t we?!
Yesterday we celebrated the coming of the Spirit of God with all sorts of shinnannigins (is that how you spell it?)!
We heard the wind, we saw the flames, we even burst into languages!
We heard, too, of how the Holy Spirit is working in the lives of members of our congregation…
We prayed for openness to the Spirit, broke bread, and shared a meal together.
The test is in what happens next!
COME, HOLY SPIRIT!
We are planning to run a five week course in the Benefice for all who would like to attend. It is Called “Rich Inheritance” and is one of the much loved York Courses. Everyone who would like to attend is welcome to do so.
The course has been written by the Bishop of Chelmsford and participants include Archbishop Vincent Nichols, Dr. Paula Gooder, Dr. David Hope and Jim Wallis. The course starts with the crucified Christ who left only a small band of mainly illiterate fishermen charged with taking his message of love and reconciliation to the world. Over the weeks we will explore what changed these men and what made everything else possible.
There will be five afternoon sessions at Alderminster Vicarage commencing at 2.30 pm on Thursday May 16th; and five evening sessions at Ettington Vicarage commencing at 7.30 pm on Thursday 23rd; May so that people can choose the time that suits them best.
If you would like to attend the afternoon sessions please let John know on 01789 459241 or Cath if you would like to attend the evening sessions on 01789. We look forward to seeing you.
Cath and John.
