A huge thanks to all who took part in the Pillertons’ Crib and Christingle Service on Christmas Eve. Shepherd Pie, Eunice and the animals came out of retirement from the Holiday Club to reprise their roles in telling the Christmas story to the youngest members of our congregation.
Everyone left with a Christingle orange to decoarate their tables on Christmas Day.
Hello everyone, poor Jonathan is so bogged down with school work that he’s let me loose on the blog again. Well, what can we tell you – it’s been eventful! After a term packed with our very own olympic games, cooking biccies, searching for clues around the village in the dark (that was a tough one believe me!) and bonfire night fun and games at the vicarage (thanks Cath!), we rounded off the term with our Christmas outing to Tenpin – and after 2 members ended up in A&E, we are wondering what we can do for an end of year activity in 2013?!
We were joined by several new members last term and had an average session turnout of 21 youngsters – what a thriving group of enthusiastic and energetic young people! We were delighted to be invited by Revd John Horton to play such a large part in the Benefice United Service in Ettington Church in November and as leaders, we were so pleased at the positive comments we received from everyone in the Benefice who attended that service. The children certainly enjoyed showcasing GIFT to them. GIFT is open to all youngsters in the Benefice (and beyond) who are in Year 6 or above at school (there’s no maximum age limit) – just contact a leader if you would like more information.
The Spring term begins on Tuesday 15th January and we continue to meet every other Tuesday evening thereafter at 7pm in Ettington Church (sessions end at 8.30pm). Leaders have now met and planned the new term (but let’s get Christmas over with first shall we?!) and amongst the activities we will be undertaking is a trip to Cadbury World. The provisional date for this is Saturday 16th March so parents pop a note in your diaries now and more information will be issued in the new year.
Thanks to Jonathan for the work he has done on the blog this term – hopefully you’ll be able to do some more blogging for us in 2013 Jonathan.
Do take the opportunity to view the GIFT Christmas message everyone and may we take this opportunity to wish everyone in the Benefice a merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
